    Hi!

First of all thank you for such an impressive lugin. I am trying to activate it in an educational web project but there’s no way I can do it.

I’ve made two quickly stories to use as a test, opened Elementor (GeneratePress Theme) with a Canvas template to avoid errors but:

The CSS options (see the stories as circles, several stories in row…) are not working.
When I publish it, the stories are not clickable:

Also, I’m not seeing plugins that could be causing incompatibility issues. Could you help me?

    Regards,
    Alex

  • @alexg9 Hi there, thanks for posting your topic. We’ll be happy to check on this for you.

Could you briefly deactivate your theme and try a WordPress default theme like Twenty Twenty-Two to test if the same issue occurs?

    Hi Luckyna

Thank you for you fast answer.

I’ve installed and activited Twenty Twenty-Two, but nothing changed. Even in the backend the Stories are not being showed well:

@alexg9 Could you provide your Site Health information? You can share privately if you prefer.

It would also be very helpful if you would be able to create a fresh new WordPress install on the same host with just the Stories plugin installed to test if that encounters the same issues. I understand this may not be possible so if not then no problem at all.

I’ve sent the Site Health information through the questionnaire Luckyna.

I don’t have the chance to make a stage environment until I change the hosting (2 months approximately), sorry for that.

    Hi, is anyone there?

@alexg9 Hello, it looks like the links for the screenshots above are not working.

If you go to WordPress Settings > Permalinks, what structure do you have set?
Could you please try flushing your permalink settings clicking on the ‘Save Changes’ button?

Could you tell me if you are able to access the permalink from the Web Stories editor Document panel?

    (@alexg9)

    1) I’ve reuploaded the image which shows how the stories are being seen in the backend:

    2) I have flushed the WordPress permalinks

    3) Yes, I can access the permalink from the Web Stories editor Document Panel:

Hi @alexg9 Thank you for sharing the above information. When check this Story I can see that there are a number of AMP validation errors. See the results here: https://search.google.com/test/amp/result?id=DN0y_8ILS6Q6kuPfbv9BkA

These could be caused by plugin conflicts. I can see that you have a a couple of performance plugins installed on your site. Could you please try and temporarily disable these and run your Story through AMP validation once more to see if any of the warnings are cleared?

Let me know if you have any questions on the above and how you get on with the steps.

    Hi Adam!

I tested Web Stories before writing this post only with Elementor installed but it continued to show errorrs and a bad visualization (not circles, etc).

Anyway I’ll try it again disabling the performance plugins to give you the feedback with the AMP validation ??

@alexg9 How are you getting on with the testing and troubleshooting?

    Hello @adamdunnage

I have not been able to test it yet as it is a production site and there is no staging server at the moment.

I hope to be able to do it this week. I will upload the update as soon as I have tested it.

    Sorry for the delay.

@alexg9 No problem at all thanks for the update.

    Hi Adam,

Finally I could test the Web Stories deactivating all the performance plugins and detect some issues. Conclusions and questions:

    1) At least the stories can be seen as circles in the frontend. The backend continues to be wrong but maybe that’s because an incompatibility with Elementor Editor. Anyway, that’s not a big matter for me.

    2) The AMP result continues to be the same. Is there any way to solve that?

Thank you for all your attention,

I take advantage of this thread to ask about a CSS question. As you probably know, all websites should adapt their design to their brand style. To make that I would want the circles smaller in mobile. Is there any way to make that via CSS?

I could find the CSS selectors to change de border styles and so one, but not the way to change the size properly.

Hi @alexg9 Apologies for the delay and thanks so much for all the information provided. I have checked your Story once more and you seem to still have several AMP validation errors so let us try to address these.

If you noticed some improvements after deactivating your performance plugins then this indicates a conflict with one or more of these. I would advise isolating which ones are causing this and to contact the support team for those plugins.

Can I also ask you to try editing the affected Story by deleting any videos on the Story pages in the editor and re-adding them back in and publish the Story. Let me know if that makes any improvement on the frontend of the site.

As you do have many plugins installed I think the best next step here is to manually deactivate each plugin and checking your Story through the AMP validator after each plugin has been deactivated. I appreciate this may be time consuming but it’s the best way to isolate what could be causing each validation error as it is possible this is related to more than one plugin in this case.

I will also run some checks with the same plugins on my side in the meantime but I will await your response.
