    Hi there,

I am running a blog. However, I included PHPList there, and somehow whenever I share the main website link on Facebook, the author of PHPList appeared as the author for my blog.

On FB, if you publish link it’ll be like:

    [Picture]
    [Bold title]
    [words]
    [website name | Author name]

my problem is that the widget author became website author. I have changed his name to mine, but it still remains.

Any idea how to overcome this? Just to change the name, or remove, at least.

    Thanks.

    Hi there!

    Are you referring to:
    https://www.phplist.org/download-phplist/

Or is this a plugin that you are using?

What steps have to taken to resolve this?

Well, I host PHPList on my own server. So I set up PHPList, and create my own widget from PHPList sign up page to be included on my main page. I use advance HTML plugin to paste the code and turn into custom widget.

Oh, anyway, I did scan through the code in the widget. It turn out, there is a meta author there, where in my website and theme, don’t. Facebook accidentally take the meta author from the widget and make it as website author.

So I changed the whole thing, turning it into my name. Still, Facebook didn’t change the author name.

After hours of research and reading other’s post, I found out that Facebook actually keep a data of the web that we link. In a way, I need to flush the data, ask Facebook to get new data from the website. That is when I go to Facebook Open Graph Debug, and press “Fetch New Scrape Information”. Only then Facebook detect the changes that I’ve made and get it right.

Voila! Everything is well and solved! ??

(This is to my understanding. I may understand it wrongly, but it worked. Hopefully this’ll help others who have the same problem )

Ah, that makes more sense now!

Great to see you were able to figure it out and many thanks for sharing that information as well! I’m sure there will be at least one person out there who will benefit from knowing that! ??

Just don’t forget to mark it as “resolved” ??
