Link to a page displaying the problem:

    https://staging.aromytherapy.com/shop/

    What’s happening?

My feature a page widget shows up well on my homepage: https://staging.aromytherapy.com/. However, it also show up on my shop page: https://staging.aromytherapy.com/shop/

What did you expect to happen?

As the shop page is the one I am featuring, I do not want it to appear on the shop page, I would only like it to appear on my homepage.

What have you done to try to fix it?

I have tried setting fpw_widget-4 to display: none, but that hides it on both pages. I have tried using the shop page ID selectors, but the ID selectors are the same on both pages and end up hiding on both pages.

    What theme are you using?

    Talon

Is the problem resolved by disabling all plugins besides Feature a Page Widget?

    No

Thank you for your help with this!!

    @taylorhaigler,

Thanks for writing such a thorough report. It’s very helpful!

I believe you are seeing the expected result from your theme. It sounds like the Shop and Home Page display the same widget area (aka “sidebar”). If that’s the case, one would expect to see the Feature a Page Widget on every page that displays that widget area. Your desired outcome is reasonable, but the widget isn’t aware of what page it’s displayed on.

What you can do is install a plugin to hide or show the widget only on certain pages. I recommend the Jetpack Widget Visibility module for doing this.

If you’re hoping that the theme has a specific way to only display widgets on the home page, you should open a support ticket with them. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if they make the same recommendation as I do above.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks so much for your help and suggestion!

I wasn’t able to get it to work with the Jetpack Widget Visibility, but I reached out to Talon theme support and they suggested Woo Sidebars and that did the trick.

    I appreciate your reply.
