Widen The Content Area Twenty Ten

    I have widened the twenty ten theme from default 940px to 1100px but i want to expand the content area to 1100px also. I have made the page one colum,no sidebar and changed the css to
    .one-column #content {
    margin: 0 auto;
    width: 1100px;
    }
    It still only dispays 940px. I want to be able to place an image 1100px wide into the content area to fit snug the full width of the page.
    Please help.
