Wich product catalog plugin to use?

  • I have bult my product categories and products with custom post type.
    It has a very special layout.
    Now they say that I need to use some product catalog plugin to make products easy to manage, there may be hundreds of products in the future.
    All the plugins I have found use their own templates and logic to show the products but I need to make a custom one for sure.(For example I have categories shown as thumbnails that are colored in specific color when even number, like chessbord).
    I could edit a plugins own template file but that would mean no updates and it’s a bad option form me.
    What type of plugin offers using their own functions in a custom templates? Or are there other nicer alternatives to achieve that?
