Yoast SEO generates sitemap XML with urlencoded cyrillic urls and link text. My client have no objections against urls, but he want to see urldecoded (ususal cyrillic) link text in the file. So i need open generated xml files and urldecode link text for each link. Or may be i can change the way that yoast seo generate links ? I suspect that Yoast seo generate XML files dynamically. But this is important to find solution for me, so maybe someone helps. Thank you.

    Hello @tarasp100878

Thanks for reaching out about your client’s XML sitemap.

I see that the post sitemap contains encoded URLs, but you will like them to be decoded. According to sitemap.org specification, a sitemap must be encoded in UTF-8. UTF means Unicode Transformation Format. It is an encoding system for Unicode. It can translate any Unicode character to a matching unique binary string and the binary string back to a Unicode character. For instance, it lets you represent characters as ASCII text while allowing for international characters, such as Chinese, Russian, and Arabic.

As you rightly mentioned, the Yoast SEO plugin generates sitemaps on the fly. So there’s no feature in the plugin to show your URLs as decoded.
