Why would a Facebook Widget only show its title, with nothing else??

  • Hi,

    For some odd reason, the Facebook/Jetpack widget on artmassagepdx, stopped showing the little Facebook window, and only showing the title “Find us on Facebook,” as a live link. I even put in a different Facebook page, and it worked fine. The settings are similar, and I have never had this happen.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    It’s because your Facebook page is not publicly available. Folks will have to be logged into Facebook to see your page, and the same is true for the widget (they will need to be logged into Facebook to see the widget’s content).

    Aha…and I imagine that is a setting on Facebook?? It is a business page, and it has worked before, so hopefully it is that easy a fix.

    Yes, it’s definitely a setting on Facebook’s end, though I don’t quite recall where exactly.

    The Facebook business page is published, and I am waiting on the ownership verification. How did you learn the page was not publicly available? Thought I would share a screenshot, but don’t think that is possible.

    Could this be a Jetpack setting? I have been over that once or twice, but will check again…

    I attempted to visit it while logged out of Facebook, and it required me to log into Facebook to view it, as opposed to a page like https://www.facebook.com/WordPress/ which does not require logging in.

    No, this is a setting in Facebook. Jetpack has no control over whether or not your Facebook page is publicly visible.
