Why we have front-page.php and home.php template?

End user don’t know what they are and how to use theme.

Theme developers can use one of theme to display the Homepage. Then, the other one, if isn’t a custom page template, is same as archive.php.

And there born is_home() and is_front_page() conditional tags that I feel so confused when checking for a real front page|blog page.

So what is the point of having both of theme?
