Why was this plugin removed from www.remarpro.com?

    This message shows up on the plugin page on www.remarpro.com:

    This plugin has been closed as of July 16, 2021 and is not available for download. This closure is temporary, pending a full review.

    Does anyone know why it was removed? Is there a security issue that we should know about?

    Hello @stronganchortech,

    The plugin was removed from the repository due to a security issue. We were notified about this on Saturday and issued a fix as soon as we found one.

    We are now waiting for a review from the WordPress team, they will do their own audit and the plugin will be restored afterwards.

    Also, as the plugin is not available for download right now, you can grab the up to date (and fixed) version from here (2.4.2): https://www.cozmoslabs.com/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=284

    About the issue at hand, I don’t think it’s public yet and since the plugin is not available to be updated to a fixed version pending the WordPress review, I don’t think we should share details right now.

    What I can say is that it is nothing very severe, your website cannot be compromised through this.
