I am surprised, from what I can find in the forum search (unless it is really buried), that no one has ever asked the question as to why the “All In One SEO Pack” plugin provides a means to create a “Keywords Meta Tag”.

According to Google, they stopped using that meta tag long ago, top SEO consultant websites say don’t use it and Google says that the Keyword Meta Tag has no impact on the SEO (search ranking) of the website.

Now to ensure people understand what I am saying.

The Meta Tag “keywords” itself, is not used by Google anymore. … but

Keywords, used to construct your Page titles, page content and “Meta Description tag” are still very important.

So can someone who represents this plugin explain why it still creates the keyword Meta tag when it is suppose to be obsolete?

We have meta keywords disabled by default, since Google doesn’t use them.
However, some search engines like Yandex use it, and some use it for various other purposes (SAS uses it internally for example).

As we have them disabled by default, when using the plugin, you shouldn’t see any interface for them at all, other than a toggle to turn them back on.

    Ok, that makes sense then.

From time to time, which I should have mentioned, is that it can have some impact on Google, but this was last year. I did a test and inserted keywords into a website and watched. The specific keywords showed up in Google searches.

Still officially, as you confirmed, that Google does not use keywords.

Just to let you know, there is no toggle for that input field. It shows the same as Meta title input field, by inserting the cursor to activate it (unless that is the toggle??).

    Thanks for the clarification.

FYI: I got rid of Yoast and came to this plugin because Yoast was creating a huge lag in the post/page editor and that issue is still unresolved, now for a year. So I moved to your plugin. It does not create lag – nice ??

You can find the option at the bottom of the General Settings page. https://semperplugins.com/documentation/keyword-settings/
