• Hi there,

Does anybody know why shortcodes plugins (namely Shortcodes Ultimate, Olevmedia Shortcodes and some others) don’t work on WP 4.7 (and higher) properly?

To be precise, I mean, for example, their shortcodes for incerting accordions/spoilers. After updating for WP 4.7 they just stopped working. Pages’ layouts are not corrupted but the very spoilers don’t opened upon clicking them.

Could anybody give unvaluable piece of advice on the workable shortcodes plugins which are able to put up with new (WTF!) WP core (which let such crash happen)? or maybe tell how to fix all these problems?

I have a lot of pages with shortcodes from Shortcodes Ultimate and just don’t know what the hell can I do with all of them – as for now they are pretty ‘pictures’, not more.

    Thank you,

    Best regards,

  • I recommend raising this issue with the plugin providers over here:

Also, please provide a link to your site. This helps a lot when trying to debug errors.

I asked them, they didn’t answer. Moreover, as you can see they haven’t updated their product for more than 6 months. So I suppose they are all dead.

As for the links it wouldn’t be of much help because we have remaked all pages with shortcodes. We cannot afford to wait for updating to turn up. Just believe they (shortcodes) don’t work anymore. And I suspect it’s WP who is guilty, not developers.

I wouldn’t be so fast in pointing the finger at wp. Yes, they do create updates, and yes sometimes these updates break the functionality of existing plugins. However, before an update is released it is published first as a beta version and then an RC version, giving plugin developers ample time to ensure plugin compatibility. That’s just the way WP has been working since I remember.

If the plugin does not work with your current wordpress version and you don’t get feedback from the plugin developers, you are left with few options:

    1. Find a different plugin that does what you need. (you will need to change the shortcodes most probably)
    2. Downgrade your WP version (this can cause security concerns)
    3. Pay a developer to create the functionality you require. (You can hire devs over at jobs.wordpress.net)

    I hope this helps,

The 1st point exactly the thing I asked for while starting this theme (I tried to do it on my own but…)
I still hope somebody will come across my topic and offer me a couple of plausible plugins which get along with new WP quite well. I needn’t a great deal of functionality, I would appreciate just a handful of shortcodes, but spoiler/accordions among them.

In any case thank you for reply,

    Rgards,

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. I presume you have already looked at all of these:

Thank you! No, sure I haven’t looked up all of them yet but some of them I have. Maybe a bit later when there is enough time for testing another bunch of ‘wasteful’ code I’ll give them a try but now I cannot afford to do someone else’s job.
