Why not withdraw 2.0

It is obvious that with most of the wordpress installations, Version 2.0 of NextGen Gallery causes minor or bigger problems.
So why does the autor not just withdraw this version? This would help all people, who do the updates automatically and maybe have not seen the reactions here
