    Hi there,

With WP Time Capsule, backup calls are sent from our server to your site to trigger backups. So to create a unique id for your sites, we need our users to signup and create a WPTC account. Also, you will be getting a dashboard in which you will have an eagle eye view to monitor all your sites in one place. It will be much easier for you to manage rather than logging into your each WordPress sites.
Please give it a try and I am sure that you will like our features.

Let me know if you have other questions.

I would love to try it if just making simple backups needs no registration/sign-in/account, It’s understandable if it requires sign-in for the dashboard and manage all websites from one place (even though I have only one website), anyway I don’t want to be tied to accounts … Why can’t backup calls start from my server to trigger backups like any other plugin?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

WPTC uses our own cron system to trigger backup calls on your site. You do not need to spend time in setting up the crontab on your server.
Say you have installed other plugins which uses the default WordPress cron to perform any scheduled actions. If WPTC uses the same default cron, it needs to wait in the queue to complete the backup actions. Whereas now, we send our backup calls using our own cron system which will ensure backups are done without any problem and also it will reduce the load on your server.

Thank you for your kind explanation, even though I don’t think waiting for some seconds/minutes is bad for backups. Anyway, the idea is there, but in my opinion it got bad implementation, I’m not saying that if I try the plugin I will not like it, but I’m always afraid to be tied with accounts to do anything in my main project, especially for backups.

Thank you for your plugin and support ??

Thanks a lot for your reply. We do it mainly for reliability. We are the team behind InfiniteWP and depending on Cron from the servers had a lot of issues and that’s the reason we have a server component in this product.

I personally feel unsure about a one-star rating for the nature of the product on how it does things. It would be totally fair if you reconsider your rating if not, no problem we can live with it ??

I would like to take this time out to thank the WP-Time Capsule Team for their expertise in retrieving my data.

I remember, while in the corporate world; front end users (non-tekkis ??), we had a department called the Help Desk (Tekki). The Help Desk was able to fix anything with our computer that was fixable. I have that same faith in my WP-Time Capsule Plugin. I am happy that I downloaded their plugin, because they were there when I needed them.

    Thanks again WP-Time Capsule Team,
