Why Leira is not smart enough

  • I was thrilled when I came across Leira years ago. It’s exactly the kind of Avatar that was in my wish list, but I feel it’s not smart enough. Several plugins, notably author box plugins, readily pull the Default Avatar chosen under Discussion settings, regardless of the avatar settings in the themes being used . Why Leira fails to do so?

    If you check the default settings under discussion you will notice you have an option for “letter avatar”. You either select letter avatar or any of the other options which includes the default you mentioned.

    if you need the default option then you don’t need letter avatar. Thats normal behavior.

    I gather you didn’t get me, Ariel. I am a Leira influencer. I always install your Letter Avatar and set it as the default avatar in every site I make. But Leira doesn’t work with most WP themes, while some plugins and WP Comments work with all themes and appear in post meta. Leira appears only if the theme allows it; the other plugins pull the Leira avatar regardless of the theme. I can clearly demonstrate it, because I choose themes that don’t disregard Leira.

    Know what? I am using 2 themes for the site I am working on now. I use Theme 1 because it comes with a good front page (but won’t accept WP avatars); I use Theme 2 for blogs and single page posts because this theme accepts Leira. My point is Leira’s scope is limited by heme-dependancy. Thanks for reading.

    I think I now understand your point; the plugin does not work well with all themes. This is something I have experience in the past, not just with theme but also with other plugins. That’s why you see I have a section in documentation where I list those plugin with the one letter avatar is compatible with. Most of the time, from my experience, the problem relies in a theme or plugin not developed correctly, therefore the avatar is shown incorrectly or not in the expected way.

    That being said, if you have a problem with some themes/plugin, send it here, so I can take a look at it, probably is something easy to solve. Or maybe helps me to solve the issue with other themes plugins.
