Why isnt the (edited) 2012 theme resizing for me?!

That is not the original Twenty Twelve theme. Do not edit the Twenty Twelve. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes. Or install a custom CSS plugin.

If you size the window to be smaller in width, you can scroll to the right and all the backgrounds are the size your window was, they dont stay the full 100% width, if that makes sense?

In short – you broke the theme! You need to start again and, this time, use a child theme for your changes.

You shouldn’t expect your modified theme to work as the original Twenty Twelve theme.

I’ve been trying to figure out which class is holding back the backgrounds with the inspector, and it’s been driving me insane! Im not sure if its something in functions.php or what, figured I would give the forums a shot

basically, any style with fixed width values (for instance in px) is likely to break a responsive theme.

go through your edited/added styles, or use a browser inspection tool to find out which of your divs has a fixed width …
