• Hi,

Given this plugin is about email logging, I was shocked to find that it now adds the Extendify ‘library’ button to the block editor.

Can someone please explain why this is happening and how I can remove it?

    Thanks
    Phil

  • Hi @philkurth,

WP Mail Logging uses Redux, which includes access to the template library. However, typically, the library is set to “off” by default. Could another admin have turned it on, by chance?

In any case, to disable the library you can go to Settings –> Redux in wp-admin and click the ‘Templates’ tab. There, you will see the option to uncheck the box next to “Extendify Templates Library”.

    Hope this helps.

This is one of the absolute shadiest things I’ve ever encountered in my time working with WordPress.

I’ve been using WP Mail Logging for years, but will be uninstalling immediately.

No idea how this is allowed by WordPress.

And FYI, it is not “off by default”.

Just updated to 1.10.2 and can confirm the “Load Extendify template library” option under Settings > Redux > Templates is enabled by default.

This update also seems to add four page templates (Extendify Template, Redux Contained, Redux Full Width and Redux Canvas) that can’t be disabled.

    Hi @clubkert

No other admins have access to the site in question so it was enabled by default on update.

Given this is a plugin designed for logging email, it’s really bizarre to me that this ‘feature’ has been forced in. Unfortunately, for me, trust in this plugin is gone so I won’t be using it moving forward.

As a plugin developer myself, I would never use strategies like this as they risk the relationship with the people using the product.

    Good luck with it.

    Cheers,
    Phil

Can confirm, the Extendify Template Library was enabled by default for me as well. And it can’t be disabled for some reason.

Hi @wizard71 – we’ve been in touch with the developer and I believe they are planning to remove the library. It seems like it was added unintentionally when updating the Redux framework.

I’m part of Extendify (not part of the WP Mail Logging team), but did want to clarify, did these steps not work for you? If not, there may be some other issue going on…

To disable the library you can go to Settings –> Redux in wp-admin and click the ‘Templates’ tab. There, you will see the option to uncheck the box next to “Extendify Templates Library”.
