Why is there no real support?

WordPress is free software. Exactly what kind of support level are you expecting from volunteers to whom you’re not paying anything?

I’m starting to realize why there’s no real support.

Is it because

there ARE paid wordpress support sites out there. If you want to pay, do it, you will get help immediately. But here, it’s just some folks who enjoy working with WordPress….. we volunteer what we can, when we can.

We prefer to keep the forums free of job adverts, if you want paid support please consider posting a “New Job Request” [1] to have a professional work with you, or consider joining and soliciting professional assistance from the mailing list [2].

If you want (or need) paid WordPress support, there are a lot of consultants out there who can service your needs.

(I would say WP’s free support is still better than some company’s paid. Having been on hold for 6 hours more than once.)

I must say, that I’ve already had help from a few different users and moderators, usually within a half hour of posting a question.

I’m absolutely brand new to coding, but for a free service, there isn’t any better support out there. Period.
