  • If you look at the path for the file, you will note that these files are all in a directory called cache.

    Ai1ec creates these files with the latest CSS required automatically. Without them, you will have zero style on your site.

    Just to note: The “Theme Options” section simply modifies the CSS to use and then writes it out to the cache.

    Thank you, I understand the need for CSS (styling) but does that address why there is base 64 code present? I thought base 64 code was always a sign of malware.

    It’s a time-code signature that indicates when the CSS was generated by Ai1ec.

    Despite what people may tell you, using Base64 in filenames is NOT a sign of malware. Some malware may use the technique, but it’s been in use by legitimate programs and plugins for many years before malware writers started using it.

    You may as well be asking why the plugin is written in PHP, since much of the malware out there is written in PHP.
