I thought that paragraph spacing had to do with CSS and was related to the theme, yet different posts have different paragraph spacing and the tighter spacing is quite hard to read.
You can see it on this old post versus this new one.
All new posts have much better spacing, but I still want to edit the old one since it is still popular, and force it to have the same spacing so that it’s easier to read. I’ve tried just manually entering new lines in the editor, but that doesn’t work.
    Suggestions appreciated ??

  • Looks like you’ve been copying posts from a word processing program directly into WP. When you do that you get a LOT of extra markup and styling, courtesy of the word processor…. makes things inconsistent for sure.

You can see that by viewing the source of those two posts and checking out all the extra “stuff” on them.

If you must compose posts in a word processor you may want to explore the options of the WordPress post editor. While on the New Post screen, click the right-most toolbar icon above the “Visual”editor (aka The Kitchen Sink button) and that will show another row of toolbar icons below.

One of those new toolbar icons will be “Paste from Word” which will help cleanup all the cruft.

You might also look into blogging client software. If on Windows, check out Windows Live Writer, I like that one.

Thanks so much!! I never even noticed that one wee button, but I changed paragraph spacing in the word processor and pasted it in and that did the trick ?? I did indeed write that old post in OpenOffice, so that explains the different spacing. Good to know in future!
