Why is my website so slow?

  • Dear all,

    I have two almost identical websites running. Made with the same Central theme.

    – www.bastarto.com
    –www.studiochrispeterson.nl

    The bastarto.com site is loading really..really slow and I can’t figure out what is causing it. I have downsized the images, etc but nothing seems to work and the other site: studiochrispeterson.nl loads quickly which is nearly identical.

    How can I improve the speed? All help is welcomed!

  • Your site is really so slow. I think you need to test yor website with google page speed tool.

    Have you flushed out all revisions and drafts from the site? I used WP Optimize yesterday and got rid of a load of junk which was slowing things down.

    Thanks Annie! I tried it but it seems just as slow as before

    Wow that really is slow, are they running on the same hosts?
    I tried running a GTMetrix test on both sites, i can’t manage the first one as it times out (maybe you’ll have more luck), but here is the report i got for the second site https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.studiochrispeterson.nl/DaHs5Ect
    That might give you a few ideas of things to try and do to fix the issue,

    They are running on the same hosts. The bastarto.com site has exceeded its disk spac. Could this effect the speed?

    Your host my throttle back speeds in order to get you to either decrease the size or upgrade your package, it’s a bit harsh but it as far as i am aware it is within their power so it may be worth contacting them to check

    still..this can’t be the only reason surely?

    One of my site’s were running slow because of the size of my image’s,
    Once I resized them in photoshop my site was running smoothly..

    Hi,

    The main reason is your host or your web server.

    If you look at the waterfall from GTMetrix you can see the browser is:
    – first in blocking mode (and for many files during multiples seconds)
    – then is waiting for data.

    If you are on a shared hosting, I suggest to change your provider.
    If you are on your own server, you need to check its health

    I managed to fix it by setting: margin-bottom: -20px!important
    in the custom css.
