    Jetpack Mechanic ??

We do try to remove shortcodes, but when doing so we also must remove the content of those shortcodes since in many cases shortcodes include code, or other things that are not text.

In your case, everything inside of the [dropcap] shortcode is removed. I’m not sure what’s the best way to solve this issue. I guess we could start building a whitelist of shortcodes that are known to include text, but that would never take all plugins into account.

Until then, I’m afraid I can only recommend that you stop using the [dropcap] shortcode, and switch to using CSS to change the look of your post content:

    I hope this helps!

Thanks Jeremy for the feedback. In my humble opinion, displaying code inside a paragraph, or relying on an incomplete list of shortcodes providing text enhancement, is better than dropping text completely.

Shortcodes are useful for people who do not want to edit CSS files. And achieving great results without coding is ultimately what WordPress is about… Therefore JetPack should stay on this path, IMHO.

    Thanks again for your help!
