    Hello!

    Could you explain a bit more? Where does it still appear? In your Categories widget on your sidebar/footer?

    Did you click the “Update” button?

    More information would be needed if anyone is going to be able to help you. Perhaps you could provide a link to your site and a description of where the problem is occurring?

    yup. clicked “update”,

    i’m learning WP via a local install with xampp.

    it’s just that i’ve made sure “uncategorized” is unticked, yet it won’t go away.

    If it appears somewhere on your website, like sidebar or footer, it’s because you need to have a category in WordPress. Even if you untick it, it will still appear, because it’s probably the only one you have. It’s the default category.

    You have, like, 2 options:

    • Rename it in Posts -> Categories -> press the Edit button under it and enter something else;
    • Remove the Categories widget from Appearance -> Widgets. Click on it and drag it to the left side.
