• A lot of people are posting Flickr galleries on their blogs, instead of hosting the pics on your own hosting. I understand the desire to share your photos in a photo community, but is there any traffic or SEO benefit to hosting your images on flickr?

  • I can see a traffic benefit since those photos are now at two seperate places with two seperate sets of possible visitors. There’s probably a small SEO benefit since I’m sure flickr provides a link back to your own site on each page.

No if you want a link back to your blog on your Flickr posting you have to add it yourself, and actually it feels a little tacky doing that without a particular reason. You can put a link to your blog in your profile. The main draw of the Flickr account for me is the social networking, and the ability to send your photos to different groups. I’ve learned a lot and met many people. Posting Flickr photos to your blog requires you to link back to Flickr with a link on each photo.

Actually the link I was thinking of is in the profile overe there. Again, probably little SEO benefit which was the point I was trying to get across.

Ha, I was expecting to see your profile when I clicked that drmike. ??
