Why import is so long and resource absorbing?

    we have a website with 20 GB of images. We already done export for google storage on dev and uats servers, they succeed but they took almost 24h ?? Why it is so costly? As I inspect plugin’s code I see that you’re doing regeneration of thumbnails, it is really needed? Can we skip this in ease way and just alter metadate for image and send to google storage? Maybe good idea will be to use here a little bit of asynchronous pool?
