Why have users login?

  • Quick newbie question.

    Why would I want my users to login to post comments? It seems like most WordPress blogs simply ask people to leave the name, website, and email to post.

    Is it to prevent spam?

  • That would be one reason. Another is if your subject matter is one of which you want to better moderate the comments could be another.

    But yes, generally speaking, most blogs allow anyone to comment.

    Spam – yes – helps to be registered but not necessary.
    Be sure and install Bad Behavior and Spam Karma2 along with the Akismet plugin you already have. You will get spammed sooner or later.
    A google search will give you the downloads pages for both.
