• In the old widget, I was able to set the width to 250 px to fit the width of other items in my sidebar. The new one is only about 200 px wide and looks lost between the other 250 px wide widgets. There is no adjustment selection to reset the width. Also, the length adjustment selection doesn’t seem to work. It is only showing one row of faces and I used to have four. I’ve tried increasing it from 432 px (default) to 999 px but there is no change. It is still scrunched up with four tiny face images and a large blank space to the right where there could be two to three more across the row now that the images are tinier.

Is there a way to edit the widget so it fits properly?

    Thanks!

I am having the same exact problem as sleeplessinDC. I just updated Jetpack and noticed the width has shrunk and that is a problem for my website. The ‘Facebook Like Box (Jetpack)’ needs to have a ‘Width’ option that we can manually adjust ourselves and/or the option to become responsive to wherever the widget is placed. So if the sidebar is 200px it will auto adjust the width to that size. However, I would rather have the Width option (or both) I can set myself, just as the Height option is implemented.

@jpfales: I’ve already created a GitHub issue for this – you can follow along with the progress here:

Thank you for the reply csonnek! Unfortunately, it is going on about a month and this issue was not addressed in the recent Jetpack update, in which it should have. Due to this, I am going to have to drop the Facebook like box and/or the whole Jetpack plugin altogether.

I guarantee I am not the only one with this problem. While it may seem like a minor option, it was working in previous versions, then taking it out in a later version, while “there are additional options available: Width (min 180, max 500)” in the developer options, it seems to be a step backwards. I am now forced to find an alternative solution.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

The new Facebook Page Plugin was designed to be responsive from the start: you can define a width parameter when generating the Page Plugin from Facebook Developers’ site, but that width value will be overwritten by the width of the Plugin’s parent container. You can read more about it here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/page-plugin#adaptive-width

In practice, this means that you don’t actually need to define a width value, as long as your theme defined a width value for the container around the widget.

If you’d like, you can let me know your site URL and I’ll give you the necessary CSS code to add to make sure your Facebook Page Plugin is displayed properly.

Your quickest alternative would be to generate a box you’re happy with here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/page-plugin

You can then paste the generated code into a new text widget. That should do the trick.

Wonderful. Using the developers.facebook.com link–will be be able to get rid of the huge image header in the box? It takes up too much space and doesn’t allow the full name of the page to show. Ours is truncated after the first one and one-half words.

You should be able to hide the header image via the Jetpack widget settings, or when generating the Page Plugin on the page I linked to earlier.

Jetpack’s option is named “Show Cover Photo”, while the option in Facebook’s Page Plugin generator is named “Hide Cover Photo”.

    I hope this helps.
