    I installed this plugin connected Analytics and Console, but I never connected Tag Manager. So, why is there gtag in my code, and therefore, adding an additional tracker, http request, and script file to my site that I never asked for?

    Could you provide your site URL so we can check?

    Note that using the Global Site Tag is the recommended way to implement the Analytics tracking code on websites. You’ll also see this in your Analytics admin settings for the property: https://jmp.sh/9gvSijv

    That is the code snippet that Site Kit inserts on your site for the Analytics connection.
