Why Featured?

  • I see there are plugins or codes for making items “Featured”. I don’t understand this.- We have Categories and Tags. If I want to have a list of items featured, then I just need to create a “Featured” category and display this list of items anywhere I like. So, why we still need to create a “Featured” list?

    Seems everybody knows the obvious answer to my doubt.

    a similar question was asked in food technology in my kids secondary school lessons:
    ‘why do we need processed food?’

    in my personal opinion, the answer is (to both questions):

    we don’t need it, but some might still like to have it because it seems more convenient.

    so, if you are competent to do this ‘featured’ stuff with categories or tags, that is great.
