I have a problem. For some reason when I put a URL in one of my blogs it just looks like normal text when it’s published. It’s not underlined and clickable.

Does anyone know what the reason is? And more important the solution?

    Thanks very much.

  • A link to an example on your blog would be very helpful to illustrate (and clarify) your question.

    Sorry HandySolo. It’s https://consignedesign.com/blog/

One example is under the blog titled “Setting up an internal search engine, which one?” Third paragraph has a URL: https://www.freefind.com/. But it’s not clickable/underlined.

And thanks for being so tactful.

URLs don’t get automatically linked. You have to define them as links in the editor, or use A HREF code to create a proper link.

I might be missing the “real” question so bear with me…

By default, WordPress won’t “auto-convert” something that looks like an url into an url. Granted, there probably is a plug-in or two that would do just that.

WP figures that if you want something to be a link, then by gum you’ll make it a link! There’s a quick button at the top of your post editor to do just that — hilite the text, click the button and provide the URL. Presto.

Am I on the right track here or did I miss the question?

You totally got the point HandySolo! Both you and Otto42 gave me parallel solutions. Thank you both so much for the solutions, and for the fact that you responded so quickly.

You and this forum are great.

    Regards,

    Myra
