Why does WP Refresh URL?

    WordPress Refreshes URL on Load?

    When I go to
    https://www.mydomain.com/wordpress
    WordPress refreshes the page to go to https://mydomain.com/wordpress

    Why is this?

    Also does anyone have any suggestions or tips for developing wordpress sites for domains they can’t yet install it on, or a pointer to a great article on how to move my wordpress site from it’s current domain to a completely different one?
