Under “General” in the Help/Support tab, the second question is “I changed my custom post type or taxonomy slug and now I have duplicates shown. How do I remove the duplicate?”. The answer includes a link to Post-Type-Switcher. How does switching the post type help recover a taxonomy slug / remove duplicate taxonomies? Thanks

That question is more for if you purposely switched the post type to a new slug, but forgot to use our checkbox to convert the existing posts as well.

It’s also not going to work at all for taxonomy slugs. You should be able to remove the duplicates using the appropriate buttons when editing the taxonomy itself. Just select the one you want to remove, and click the provided delete button.

Recovering a taxonomy should be as easy as re-creating the same slug as before, and it should pick itself up.
