why does the new version of buddy press add random pages

I just put up a site using the pilcrow template. I like using buddy press, but when I installed the plug in, it inserted two new pages into my site. Under the page “look inside” it added its own content and completely too mine out. It did this with another page, do I deactivated BP. It this because of the theme, or have I missed something. Again, all the crazy changes go away when I deviate buddy press.
