• Hi,
I have a PowerPoint presentation I’d like to show on via a link on one of my portfolio pages. It was uploaded to my media library as a Powerpoint ppsx file. When the link is click on, rather than just opening it up in a new screen (as I chose in the link options box), the file begins to download on the viewer’s computer. Please let me know how it can just open in a new screen and not download. Thank you.

  • Hey,

Can you link to an instance of a site doing what you want? I’m not finding much information about adding a powerpoint to your wordpress site, and am not sure if it’s possible to do the way that you’re thinking.

    Hi Kevin,

Yes, sure. It is https://www.kmagnerdesign.com/portfolio/powerpoint/ and then click on the link in the descriptive copy where it says “PowerPoint presentation”. Sorry that it is a rather large file, but this is just to test. Thank you!

Sorry, I meant would it be possible for you to link to a website that is displaying the powerpoint as you’re hoping for? I don’t know if I’m understanding correctly.

One possible solution would be to save each slide as an image and upload each image into a slider to show the powerpoint.

I don’t think you can have a powerpoint posted to a site where it is viewable like in microsoft office.

    Hi Kevin,

It wouldn’t work to save as slide as an image because that wouldn’t show the animations and transitions in the PowerPoint.

Here is a link to a site that it works on: https://www.novaty.com/en/work.html# be sure to click on one of the animated presentations like the Bradesco one.

    Thanks

Since that’s not a wordpress site, I can’t really say how they accomplished that.

I suggest going through this tutorial to see if any of the presented solutions will work for you:

    Or perhaps this video tutorial:
