    Trying to understand customizer better.

When I exit customizer it forwards me to the URL I was on before but forwards me to the URL with this added string at the end, why is that and what is it doing?

    https://www.MyWebsiteURL.com/?customize_changeset_uuid=762d3294-4a89-46c5-94a0-0f1a16097fcf

On a related note – anybody knows why the style and layout gets messed up when viewing the page in the customizer? Margins are wider, spacing is off. Same page and everything is there but just messed up a little bit.

  • That looks like a front end URL, so in order for any changes that you made to be shown, the changeset UUID is used to force a reload (the browser won’t have cached that).
The preview in the Customizer is rendered by the theme, and most don’t check whether it’s in the Customizer or not, so it should be the same. The one thing that is different is that the Customizer sidebar takes up space, so whatever space is left for preview could be near a width breakpoint for the theme, so it’s as if you are on a smaller window where the margins could be different.

The customizer can save drafts of changes and also schedule them for later publishing. The UUID is an internal value that tells it where those changes are saved.
