Why do we still need a plugin to set title and description?

  • I understand that plugins like Yoast are making a business out of this, but they mostly rely on premium features for revenue.
    I find very strange that in 2023 Worpress still does not have a <title> and a <meta name=”description”> fields when posting.

    Themes are responsible for the title and description tags, and most WordPress themes use your post title for the title and excerpt for the description.

    If your theme isn’t, I recommend contacting its support.

    What plugins like Yoast SEO provide is a way to set a title and description that is independent of what is viewed by human visitors, which is not a very common use of WordPress.
