Why do some YouTube videos embed and not others?

Please post a couple of YouTube URLs that are not embedding properly and I will check it out.

Doesn’t work:

…and actually no videos seem to work now.

(If it matters, I’m currently running a brand new install hosted by WPengine.) I got one video to embed last night, and then none.

BTW, might be a good idea to have some kind of indicator that it’s loading when you do a Fetch operation – it actually looks like nothing’s happening for a while, until the thumbnail appears. I’m afraid people will click away prematurely.

Also, I just deactivated all plugins except Buddypress and Links. Still, no embed.

Bingo. Figured it out.

It doesn’t like the shortened urls. You have to put in the url from the address bar. I’ll have to put some kind of warning on that page.

So, um… where could I put such a warning? (“Note: Please copy URL directly from browser address bar.”)

Ok, I will open an issue to add support for those shortened URLs. Thanks for the report!

No prob – for now I’ve added a warning to details.php.
