I’ve been through the threads here for twitter widget pro, and I’ve seen a lot of people saying they had problems authorizing, but I wondered if someone could kindly explain why this is now required with the update that occurred to the plugin.

Why do I need to create a developer application? Does this add some new feature that the earlier version of twitter widget pro didn’t have? Who is reading the description that I have to put on the application page? I get how it’s supposed to be done. I just don’t understand why. Why am I making a “publicly accessible home page, where users can go to download, make use of, or find out more information about [my] application.”

The short answer: Twitter changed it’s policies. It’s API now requires authentication for all calls.

The slightly whiny rant: It definitely wasn’t my choice…I liked it how it was. The added complexity of authenticating an account makes a lot more code for me to write and keep up, and also makes things far more difficult for users which equates to a lot more support. All in all, it means I spend a ton of additional hours without pay just to keep this thing going.

    Hopefully that helps you understand

G’day First of all…newbie to .org from .com

I understand the concept of apps, widgets etc

I wanted to unauthorize/revoke wordpress.com re app and authorize www.remarpro.com so when I comment on people’s sites and it asks me which way I wany to comment (I use my Twitter account), I want the new account to show and not the wordpress.com

Hopefully this makes sense and thank you in advance for any replies asap!

I did read through the help section and when I sign into twitter, there are no prompts to authorize; goes direct to my account = @mickeydownunder

blog is https://www.whatsonthelist.net if the information helps

I don’t see where I can add an app (or what the proper one would now be for www.remarpro.com)

    Thank you!
    Joanne
