• I understand that a visual page editor is a useful addition to WordPress but Gutenberg is not the answer and from what I have experienced is clunky for developers and front end users alike. I do not understand why they didn’t look at something like WPBakery Page Builder as used in many themes and users blogs as an example of what people have taken to using and has been successful in many ways. It seems to me they got so engrossed in creating something unique and ‘theirs’ that they’ve missed the point completely.

  • Exactly. I’m afraid they invested into this so much, they are stubborn to the extreme on following their agenda.

You can install disable Gutenberg too, Im not posting anymore they just delete them. I think too its done now, Im not happy but hey I guess that is that. I still think all is sthe same once the disable Guts plugin works and the guy running it says there is no time limit. They are pushing updates on this, I dont think it will be as good as the paid builders, but maybe some day. Its a while off but. Its been jarring but meh, what can we do.

Agree with OP, just seems to be a complete misfire, at least use something folks know well enough, or at least move in a direction where the change is more gentle, over a few steps rather than a single hugely frustrating step with something that seemingly is yet to be refined enough to make any real sense or use for most folks.

Its a one plugin disable and its prompted me to disable comments and a whole heap of other pointless things like the customizer. WP folks fixed the issue, community will win that way. Install disable Gutenberg and carry on ??

@wordpressdublin I’ve flagged your account as you’re not contributing but you are brigading. It’s not useful to just treat the reviews like blog posts that you can comment on and spread your opinion.

Which leads me to this new pre-defined reply of mine.

Thanks for the review. I’m closing this as it’s moved to “blog post” territory and that’s not appropriate for this support forum.

If you want support for anything WordPress or want to help other people in the community with WordPress, please do so. This whole review section for Gutenberg does have some good feedback, both negative and positive.

But unhappy people are brigading here to use the reviews to vent in the form of a blog post and that’s not appropriate for a support forum.

If you wish to blog please do so. Just not on this site.

NOTE: Please do not be put off by pre-defined replies. The above is not limited to Gutenberg reviews but to be honest, this does not happen in other plugin and theme reviews.
