One of the most useful Jetpack features was the Proofreading module which included spellcheck. But alas, now it’s gone. Can anyone from Jetpack explain why? Is there any way to reincorporate it short of reverting to an older Jetpack version?

  • Hi @richards1052,

This feature is no longer being developed, so the decision to retire it for Jetpack version 7.3 and above was made — continued development is needed to ensure compatibility with newer versions.

Enabling spell check in your browser in your browser could be a workaround. I appreciate it’s not quite the same but it may help a little ??

Besides your built-in browser’s spell check, free extensions like https://www.grammarly.com/ are making huge strides in the field.

It felt like the right time to back out of that field and focus more on everything else we offer.

    Hello Jetpack,

I am not happy with this missing proofreading as well. It worked quite good for many years now. ;(

I don’t want to use any “free” browser extension, because basically these extensions transfer of all of my content to their servers. I don’t want to expose my stuff to any “free” third party service.

Ok, of course I understand, that those features need some developement. But I thought that this proofreading feature shouldn’t be that much.

    Cheers
    Johannes
