why category name not included in post url of a custom post type

  • I am having a problem that I have created a custom post type and created posts which relate to some category.

    the post URL should include the category name but its not the case. category name is omitted from custom post url.

    my permalink structure is set to /%category%/%postname%/

    but category name is not displaying in URL.

    plz help.

  • Custom post types don’t use the permalink structure — only posts do.

    You need to do your own rewrite rule handling.
