I’m unable to publicize old posts or edits to new posts, to my social media from wordpress. Why is that? Is publicize only limited to new posts? What if I need to re-post edits?

I attempted to use Tweet Old Post, however, the functionality is limited for the free version.

Are there any other plugins which let you post old or edits to new posts, that I don’t have to spend money on?

    Thanks in advance

That’s correct. Publicize was intended to push newly published posts to your social networks, and wasn’t designed to be triggered more than once.

I’m afraid I don’t know of such a plugin, but it might be worth looking at services like Hootsuite or Buffer: I believe they allow you to schedule, and maybe repost old posts.

Is there a way to customize the publicize code so that it does re-post? I figured since you’re the plugin author, it shouldn’t be too hard to come up with the code.

    Thanks again

That’s not possible I’m afraid, since the code handling Publicize and connecting to your social networks lives on WordPress.com. You won’t be able to edit that code.

Very much possible only if you change the status of the post/page/cpt from Published to any other state, before you complete your changes, if any and save it.

Essentially Unpublish it, Make Changes, if any, and finally Publish it with JetPack Publicize settings Active again!

I’m afraid that’s not going to work. Once a post has been marked as Published, meta data is added to it by Jetpack. Jetpack then checks if that meta data exists whenever the status of the post changes. So if you were to unpublish the post, and then publish it again, it wouldn’t get publicized again.
