Why cannot I change the picture on google preview for my homepage?

    We understand that you want to know whether you can change the image directly from the Google preview of the Yoast SEO meta box. Let’s clarify.

    We would like to let you know that, Google normally picks the featured image for the preview. If the featured image is not defined then it picks the first image from your content. Hence there is no other option in the Yoast SEO plugin to change the Preview image other than setting it via the featured image.

    Regarding the featured image appearing on the homepage, if you don’t want it to appear there because it’s looking odd, then you should contact your theme developer to fix it.
