Why automattic abandoned buddypress?

Buddypress needs serious coders works on it.

BuddyPress has serious and very good coders working on it. The BuddyPress project has not been abandoned at all.

Know however that the number of devs for BuddyPress is not as huge as main WordPress project. JJJ, Lead Dev is from Automattic and two committing devs are volunteers.

Yes this is what i am talking about. That 2010’s 2nd Most Promising Open Source Project is buddypress.

and.. just 3 people trying to keep it up. Its so clear they need help for faster progress.

I am following buddypress and wordpress over 3 years. I am preparing to open 2 big project of my life with buddypress. I know its pretty hard to keep an open source project as volunteers. This is why i am not expecting from volunteers. I am expecting help from automattic. I need to know that buddypress will be supported in future by a company like automattic.

Do you know what happened to https://wpvideo.wordpress.com/ ? Abandoned. I was preparing to use it and bam.. Its not working anymore.

Dont get me wrong. I am just sad about trying to trust an open source project over 3 years for my life. I paid 2 years full dedicated server cost and waited for updates so i could start my project. Thats more then 2000 dolar for nothing. Basically i could get ExpressionEngine lisense or focus on Drupal. But i waited for buddypress,wordpress mu and wpvideo. wpmu adobted by automattic fully and integrated to wordpress, now its safe for future.. but.. buddypress or wpvideo?

I wish i can php code like pro and help to buddypress but i cant. I wish somehow i pay support cost and can sure on future of buddypress / wpvideo.

So why didn’t you? You could then have switched to WP + BuddyPress + whatver when you felt they were mature enough.

If you really want to help, then donate to one of the volunteers to continue working on BuddyPress.

Well yeah.. I did.. But a bit late. You know the feel, “maybe it can release next week” and waiting with hope.

If i can start to earn, i can donate much more you know ??
