    Hello!

I am trying to figure out whether or not to nest my pages or not.
In the Page Attributes I have been nesting pages that belong under Parent pages, and numbering them in order. I just discovered that this changes their URL, however.
Once I discovered this, my initial inclination was to go back and un-nest all of the pages (for navigation sake, I have nested these pages through the Menu dashboard). Before I did this, however, I thought I would ask the experts what, if any, virtue there is in keeping these pages nested?
My inclination is to keep URLs as short and clean as possible.
    Am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance!

    Andrew

PS: The site is not yet live, so there’s no use posting the URL!

  • Nesting pages it to keep them grouped under some sort of logical structure, like a filing cabinet. This makes it easier for readers to know what’s meant to go where, and for admins to see where pages are in the admin area.

My inclination is to keep URLs as short and clean as possible.

This is bit of an “old wives tale” these days. Unless you’re using that URL as an advertised landing page that people are going to type in, there’s no need to keep anything to a shorter string. It doesn’t help, or hurt, your SEO, and people won’t be typing it into the browser directly anyway.
