• It is obvious from the ratings here, that the new editor is vastly unliked. This is akin to Coca Cola’s “New Coke” fiasco. Very few liked the new product and Coke was forced to release the “old” version again. Coke wasn’t listening to their customers and WordPress seems to have adopted the same tone deaf approach. I hope that changes.

I use WordPress with the five websites I manage, two of which are blogs, and have built many more. The author of those blogs and I have been using WP since 2007 and enjoy the ability to login, click on “New Post”, add a title and start to write. Simple. No longer. The author is now supposed to be a layout specialist as well. Sad.

I’m not saying the editor didn’t need updating, it did, but in doing so they have fixed something that wasn’t broken, just in need of updating. Like the image manager.

I have read that WordPress will no longer support the classic version after 2021; so, what happens after that? Is the plugin also going to be retired?

  • …Hopefully no later than December 2021 they will release an actually working version of Gutenberg, or WordPress will see a mass exodus…
