Why are events showing up on home page?

There are a couple of way to do this, probably the easiest way would be to put your recurring events in a specific category and then use filter out that category from the events list using a shortcode like this:

[events_list category="-5"]

The above code will filter out events in the category with the ID 5.

I don’t understand how this answers the question.

I don’t have the events_list shortcode on my home page.

I just have a generic home page where generic posts are displayed. What I am seeing is that recurring events land on my home page as if they were blog posts.

Is this only happening on recurring events and not on single/non-recurring events ?

Well, I haven’t entered any non-recurring events. Should I try that too?

I don’t want anything to show up on my homepage, except for the posts that I write. However, after creating a couple of recurring events I found that each one appeared on my home page, as if it was a post.

Are the events appearing in the main body of the page, or inside a widget?

It sounds like your theme is using coding that pulls out the latest posts / pages without checking if those posts are custom post types.
