    Hi All,
I’m getting a 404 error on a published post and I can’t figure out why. All the other posts are linking properly but this one isn’t.

This particular post is showing in my site as the first post in the menu tab “Sewing” but when I click on the title it takes me to a 404 error.

Also, when I’m in the dashboard and I click “Preview” I get an error there too.

    My website is: https://www.caddyphenom.com

The post is under the category “sewing” and is the first one listed titled: 3″ Shorter. The post URL is: https://www.caddyphenom.com/2011/08/3/ (you’ll get an error code though if you follow this link)

Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this? I’m pretty new to WordPress.

    Thank you,
    Kirsten

  • Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting via Settings -> Permalinks. If this works, then set a custom permalink structure back up again.

    Esmi,
Thank you for your reply… If I reset my permalinks will I need to edit all my old posts that link to each other or will this happen automatically?

It should happen automatically but that may not be needed. Sometimes just going through the reset process is enough to kickstart the permalinks working again.

    Esmi,
That did the trick. Thank you!

Also, when I reverted the permalink settings to what I previously had it still didn’t work.

I ended up having to take the ” out and write out the word “inches” and that seemed to fix the problem.

Glad to hear that you got it all sorted. ??
