    Hello

Can anyone please explain why can a user select the parent of a variation product when creating a new order in the back-end?

Here is a visual representation: https://ibb.co/7trXJYJ

This has caused me and few of our colleagues to select “parent” products instead of the variations. When selecting this “parent” product, it shows in order as “parent product” with the price of the first variation.

Is this a bug? Can this be removed by using a filter function or custom function?
I am not even sure where to begin.

In hopes, someone can shed some light on this,
    Thanks in advance,
    Jānis

    Hey Jānis!

Can anyone please explain why can a user select the parent of a variation product when creating a new order in the back-end?

The product search results on manual orders show all products in the store- including the parent variations- because, they are their own products too. So, using your screenshot as an example, there are 3 products in those results: the parent variable product, variation 1, and variation 2.

This has caused me and few of our colleagues to select “parent” products instead of the variations. When selecting this “parent” product, it shows in order as “parent product” with the price of the first variation.

There are a number of plugins that have been created to make the manual order creation process easier, so I would suggest doing a search for something like “manual order woocommerce plugin” to help make the order interface easier for your colleagues to use with variable products.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. Feel free to start a new thread if you have any further questions!
