• Tonight I discovered that my blog has been attacked by a virus. I contacted my web host tech support that said they were able to remove the virus, and recommended that I upgrade to the latest version of WordPress along with updating 4 plugins. I began updating the plugins and before I could upgrade the whole blog software, I lost access to everything and now all I can get is the following message:

    Your PHP version is too old, please upgrade to a newer version. Your version is 4.4.4-10+hw1, Simple Tags requires 5.0.0

    How can I get back into my blog? I’m at a complete loss on this one. By the way, I think I was using WordPress 3.1.1, but am not completely sure as I was attempting to upgrade.

    Blog, by the way, is https://www.chadfrye.com/blog

  • WordPress 3.1.2 was released quite recently, so its likely you were upgrading to that.

    Your blog seems to work from my end?

    Have you asked your webhost to upgrade to PHP 5+ or move you to a server that supports it?

    well, simple tags requires php5 so remove simple tags (access your site i.e. with FTP and delete that plugin)

    my blog seemed fine … I just upgraded to WordPress 3.1.2,and now my blog is gone? All my blog posts are still on my dashboard but not viewing on my site, how can I get the blog to show on my site again?

    @jpexpose:

    don’t just hijack a totally unrelated thread. open your own. the only similarity is that you both use wp 3.1.2!

    Thanks everyone. I contacted my web host who was able to upgrade the PHP. I have now regained access to the blog and immediately and successfully upgraded to the new version of WordPress. Thanks for your help!
