Per request from here I start a new topic regarding WHOIS lookup.

Unfortunately, the WHOIS lookup from the plugin results in a blank page on the productive site, whereas it works well on my localhost environment.

No matter how long I wait as suggested in the above link, the WHOIS results do not show up but just show the “WHOIS lookup successfully completed”-message above an empty/blank page.

This happens for ALL lookups I tried so far, not for any specific IP-address(es), and it is NOT related to the very last version 3.8.8 of the plugin. The feature never worked in my productive environment…

    Any ideas?

Hi bios4 what is the difference between your localhost and your productive environment?

    Puh – a LOT! ;))

The productive system is running on a webhosting company, I have no idea about the details of the configuration.

My localhost environment is running on a dev-only old notebook on WinXP SP3 in an old “XAMPP light” setup.

At least both configs have Apache servers, that’s all I can say so far…

I know that this is not a sufficient answer. I neither wanted to talk about tech specs nor do I have the possibility or time to change anything on the setups in productive or dev environent, but hoped to get some “try this”, “try that” suggestions or other basic ideas what might cause the issue.

If it will not get fixed – no problem. It is not a vital feature for me ;-))

Happy New Year to all of you,
    Mike

Hi Mike I understand what you mean. As per the following quoted by @wpsolutions

Depending on your connection sometimes you have to wait a little while for the result to load up.
Try again and this time don’t navigate away and simply wait 10 seconds or so to see if the page loads the “whois” output.

There is not much we can do because this is related to your connection. The fact that it works locally and not on your live server says that this function does work. Try and contact your server administrators and see what they say.

As stated in my initial posting, this is not happening in my case.
    Nevertheless thanks for following up.

As far as the feature is working OK on localhost, I think I should mark this topic as resolved.

    Thanks,
    Mike
